Maryland Basic Boating Classes
Boating Safety Courses for 2008 are completed. Check back in January for the 2009 schedule:The Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails offers The Maryland Basic Boating Safety Classes at the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Department . The classes take place in the meeting room on the second floor. This course provides an overview of the rules and fundamentals of safe boating. Maryland's Boating Safety Education Act requires that any person born on or after July 1, 1972 must obtain a certificate of Boating Safety Education prior to operating a numbered or documented vessel in the waters of the State of Maryland. Pre-registration for the three part classes is required. Registration must be made by completing the registration form (available on line) and mailing it to our address at Friends of AA Trails P.O. Box 464 Severna Park, MD 21146. A non-refundable and non-transferable program fee of $25 is required to attend the classes. Participants must attend all three classes and pass the examination in order to receive the certification. All classes are from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Checks should be made payable to "Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails". Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
