Annual Day of Service and Remembrance
Saturday, September 9th, 8:30 a.m. till Noon
WWII Memorial and Jonas Green Park, Annapolis
The Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails is proud to partner with the Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County, the Midshipman Action Group and the Watershed Stewards Academy as we gather together Saturday, September 9, 2017 for the annual Day of Service and Remembrance. The day’s festivities begin at 8:30 a.m. at the World War II Memorial along RT 450, Annapolis, where a short ceremony will take place. We honor those who gave their lives to protect our freedoms and for those who perished on 9-11. Between 9:00 a.m. and noon, about 200 volunteers will collectively spruce up the Memorial and begin preparing Jonas Green Park for the fall. Typical projects include clearing out a drainage ditch, weeding an overgrown path and the seawall, collecting pounds of debris, cleaning and mulching rain and flower gardens, bushes and trees. Unless thunderstorms are evident, activities take place rain or shine. Tools for these projects are provided through the Tool Bank. Water and snacks will be available throughout the morning. If you wish to volunteer, please pre-register at www.aacvc.org/specialevents or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
