We love the Navy! Do we ever! The Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails hosted the Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions at Jonas and Anne Catharine Green Park today. Under blistering heat and humidity, this energetic group cleaned out a rain garden, mulched two gardens and began cleaning the perimeter of the park (the rocks) of plastic, weeds, bottles, cans, line, all manner of junk. Once or twice a month this coalition of volunteers from the enlisted Navy volunteer in some capacity to help the community. For six months they are in training at Ft. Meade in Odenton. Each of them is training to become a mass communication specialist, with skills in public affairs, photo journalism, videography, print and production. Once their course work is completed, they will be given orders. They will be assigned to work on a ship somewhere in the world. We want to thank them for their terrific effort today. ...
