Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails
The Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails are proud of our many accomplishments in 2025 due to the many dedicated volunteers, devoted members, generous donations from individuals and organizations, businesses, and in partnership with the Department of Recreation and Parks. Below are some 2025 highlights!
- Sponsored, coordinated, and/or supported many events on the trails.
- Annapolis Running Festival in March.
- Earth Day events in April.
- Emily Schindler Memorial Scholarship Triathlon in April.
- Planet Walk in May.
- Concerts at Hatton-Regester Green (Sundays in May and September.)
- Vietnam Memorial Dedication at Hatton-Regester Green on Memorial Day.
- Caraker Plaza Dedication in June.
- Karen Stevens Kid’s Triathlon in September
- Patuxent River Bridge Dedication on the WB&A Trail in September
- Lifeline 100 Bike Ride in October
- Make a Difference Day events in October
- Santa on the Trail in December.
- Naptown Run in December
- Updated and implemented a new updated Trail Talk.
- Updated our website with added security and timely information about the trails and our organization.
- Provided funding of the dog waste bags for all the dog waste stations along the trails.
- Advocated for additional trail support for the upcoming FY26 budget. Letters were sent to County Council members, Dept. of Recreation and Parks Director Jessica Leys, and the budget office. Additionally, a Board member spoke at a budget forum. A Park Ranger and a Trail Maintenance position was added to the FY26 budget
- Coordinated volunteers to care for flowerbeds along the trails. With 50+ flowerbeds along the trails, we manage many dedicated volunteers to care for these flowerbeds including large special gardens: Jonas and Anne Catharine Green, Arnold Station, Hatton-Regester Green, Sun Station, Parker Rest Area, Odenton Babington Green, and the Angel Garden. A special thank you to our flowerbed volunteers and garden groups for their loving care of these flowerbeds!
- Collaborated with the Severna Park Heroes of the VietnamWar Memorial, LLC on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial project. The Memorial was installed at Hatton-Regester Green on the B&A Trail. The dedication was held on Memorial Day honoring the Severna Park residents who lost their lives during the Vietnam War
- Collaborated with Save the Trees on several invasive plant removals.
- 1- B&A Trail (between McKinsey and Robinson Roads) – 16 volunteers saved 64 trees!
- April 4 – Broadneck Peninsula Trail -6 volunteers saved 62 trees.
- May 2 – WB&A Trail (north of Patuxent Road) – 27 volunteers, saved 133 trees.
- Coordinated and supervised many large group workdays on the trails.

- April 26- Girl Scout Troop – Hatton-Regester Green
- May 2 – Thomas Holdings Group – Jonas and Anne Catharine Green
- July 12- Union Church – flower beds and the Sun Station in the Glen Burnie area
- July 18- Oceaneering interns – Sun Station
- July 28 – Turner & Townsend Heery – Jonas and Anne Catharine Green
- September 18 – Ft. Meade Squadron – Jonas and Anne Catharine Green
- November 17 – Liberty Military Housing – Jonas and Anne Catharine Green

- South Shore Trail Bench dedicated to Dave Greene for his 25+ years of outstanding volunteer service and dedication to the Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails.
- Arnold Station Bench dedicated to Elizabeth and Eric Rosborg for their long-time dedication to Arnold Station and the B&A Trail.
- Article in the Severna Voice recognizing Tim Yarbrough – June 2025.
- Nomination of Sunhild Bolander for the Boots on the Ground Award through the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County.
- B&A Trail bench in Severna Park dedicated in honor of Jack and Gayle Keene for their many years of volunteer service to the Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails.
- Community Outreach events held.
